I promised it was coming, and made it a goal for the month, and here it is: Monkey's nursery! Some before pictures, and a whole lot of after pictures. I'm so excited for her perfect little room!
The first time we saw the house, before we ever decided to make an offer, we knew this room would need to be painted. Desperately. Anthony teases me that I literally wouldn't let people *look* at the room when they came to visit, and now I splash pictures of it up in the interwebs. It was awful and the pictures hardly do it justice.
Don't even ask what was painted above the closets. Words not appropriate to raising a little girl.
The room is small and this pink was BLINDING. Seriously, if you left the door open during the day, the sunlight would make the entire hallway look pink.
A coat of the top-of-the-line primer wasn't enough to cover it up. It needed TWO coats of primer, plus the paint + primer.
The pink was awful. Horrid. I've never been a fan of pink, but that much pink in that small of a room was simply too much to handle. The morning we found out we were pregnant, it didn't take me long to insist that we paint that room - even if we ended up having a girl. No. Way. José.
A nice, sky blue. It will be good for girls *and* boys.
You can't even tell what the closets used to say ;-)
Rage face. (We fixed it.)
Then I had a friend come over and paint this beautiful mural for our little Monkey :)
How cute are they?!
Then Anthony wonderfully assembled this 4-in-1 convertible crib.
He wanted to make sure that Monkey was safe and everything on the crib was secure. So secure that the Allen wrench gave its life for the cause.
Completed crib!
Crib with bedding provided by the lovely Megan :)
Proof that she's a girl: those clothes hanging up are *just* newborn - 6 months. The top four shelves are newborn - 3 months. I've bought almost none of them. :)
Changing table/dresser from IKEA. We won't talk about the chore that was putting the darn thing together. And don't worry, Mary and Jesus will get hung up on that shelf on the wall :)
Books galore (her Daddy is an English teacher!) - including a Catholic children's bible (approved Catholic translation to make her theologian Momma happy) and Catechism. That's the re-covered rocker with monkeys playing banjos/guitars.
I love her nursery, it turned out fabulous!
