Anchor IHS Sticker

The Anchor IHS vinyl sticker is excellent for almost any surface. Try the sticker on your laptop, water bottle, or phone case. Stickers can go just about anywhere you can think of! Additionally, stickers are dishwasher safe and can stand up to the elements as well. This sticker measures approximately 3'' wide. The IHS symbol is a popular Christological monogram. Originally the IHS abbreviation came from the Greek abbreviation of the name of Jesus (ΙΗΣΟΥΣ shortened to ΙΗΣ). The Greek letter sigma (the funny looking E) in Latin is "S", thus forming the IHS monogram. Throughout the centuries this monogram has taken on different meanings, including "Jesus Hominum Salvator", "In Hoc Signo", and others. In 1541 Saint Ignatius adopted the monogram as one of the main symbols for the Jesuits. However, history teaches us that the IHS symbol is not specifically Jesuit. Rather, IHS is a well known symbol for Jesus. With this classic symbol as inspiration, I took many titles and understandings of Jesus to prayer. From that prayer and reflection came the entire IHS sticker series. This sticker in particular celebrates Jesus' role as our anchor in the storms of life. (Similar, in many ways, to His Mother's title: Stella Maris) Among crashing waves, Jesus stands firm as our anchor, holding us steady, no matter how many waves crash around us. Rather than the typical cross of the IHS symbol, this sticker features an anchor, and over the top of that anchor is Christ (IHS).
