Blog

the best of twenty Thirteen.

the best of twenty Thirteen.

Here we are, the end of another year. It is strange to look back at the year and realize how much has changed. Certain note-ables:

1. I published my first book. (Because if that isn’t at or near the top of the list…)
2. I worked at three different parishes this year, only to finally come home to my home parish.
3. The blog turned two, and will be three in February.
4. I hit 400 posts!
5. I got engaged!

I decided that I can’t possibly pick my favorite blogs from the year, so I’m breaking things down a little differently this year. Part One = Favorite Blog of Each Month. Part Two = Favorite Blog by Category. Part Three = Miscellaneous Goodness.

Part One: Favorite Blog of Each Month

January: for this Purpose.
February: silence the Voices.
March: here for You.
April: sorrowful mysteries and Relationships.
May: dead tie between “raise your Standards.” and “just don’t say it: Singlehood.
June: another dead tie between “joyful mysteries and Dating.” and “kissing kissing Goodbye.
July: never Ready.
August: just don’t say it: chewed gum, spit cups, and duct Tape. (I’m fairly sure that is the longest title I’ve ever had!)
September: into deep Water.
October: denied the City.
November: cross my Heart.
December: the Proposal.

Part Two: Favorite Blog by Category

Single Life: for this Purpose.
Relationships: there is fear in Love.
Sex, Chastity, and Purity: (tie)
just don’t say it: chewed gum, spit cups, and duct Tape.
denied the City.
out of Context.
redefining Love (parts One and Two).
Rosary themed: joyful mysteries and Dating.
Scripture inspired: (another tie)
love your Enemies.
wash the Feet.
why Forgive?
Song of the Year: on my Way.
Not Alone Series: not alone: Chastity.
Just Don’t Say It Series: (tie)
…chewed gum, spit cups, and duct Tape. (In case you hadn’t noticed, I really liked this post.)
…about Mass.
…about your Past.
…Singlehood.

Part Three: Miscellaneous Goodness

The blog that got far more traffic than I thought it would: raise your Standards.
My personal favorite from the year (okay, okay, top 3 4):
joyful mysteries and Dating.
never Ready.
cross my Heart.
the love and joy behind it All.
Theone that makes me chuckle now, looking back: just don’t say it: Singlehood. (Of course the reasons it makes me chuckle are mine alone ;-))
The blog I thought I’d never write: kissing kissing Goodbye. AND the Proposal.

Part Four: Other thoughts upon looking back

Overwhelming themes of the year: the single life (at least early on in the year), and then dating, marriage, sex, love, and relationships.

I also never imagined I’d write about the rosary as much as I did.

Heck, I never imagined I’d write more than 150 posts in one year. I never imagined I’d write and publish my own book. I also never imagined that I’d ever desire to go through that process again…but I’m constantly praying about the next book *nudge nudge, wink wink*. Truth be told, there are so many things I never imagined I’d experience, much less blog about, but here we are, wrapping up another year. But I guess that’s the point, isn’t it? Life isn’t so much about what we expect it to be, but it is about the journey God takes us on, the blessings He showers us with, and above all, His glory.

Here’s to a beautiful, adventurous and abundantly blessed 2014!
…and to a joyous wedding in 2014 😉
