setting Goals {catching up}.

The last time I checked with my monthly goals for the year of 2015 was April. That's pretty gosh darn sad. So, here, in one big swoop I'll catch up on May - September. And GO. May: Iโ€™ll be honest: it is really hard to set goals much after April because I have no idea what life with a child will look like, much less how much sleep Iโ€™ll actually get. -Blog about life with a baby and reflect on motherhood (ya know, with a baby on this side of the womb) Done! I've written a few posts on motherhood - though it is a constant struggle write about motherhood without saying too much about my daughter and trying to keep her out of the blog for her own privacy. June: -Transition to Monkey staying home with Daddy (perks of being married to a teacher โ€“ built in summer daycare!) -Blog about being a working mother (and donโ€™t be so hard on myself) I still call her Monkey on the blog because it is a bit easier, and, again, it is that privacy thing! Summer at home with Daddy was nice. It was comforting to know that she was with someone I obviously love and trust (even if it was harder for him that he thought it might be!). I've only written a little about being a working mom, more so I've written about simply being a mom. The working mom struggle is harder than I thought it would be, but we (Monkey, Anthony and I) take it one day at a time. July: -Take a family vacation -Work on actually overhauling the book (and when I say overhaul I mean there are things I want to change/add now that Iโ€™m married and see how Satanโ€™s lies get at the heart of married women too) We did take a family vacation to the coast of North Carolina! The beaches were beautiful and Monkey LOVED the water, especially the local pool. It was so fun to see her explore and take in new things. We even saw a kid catch a baby shark off a pier! The book...got pushed back. Again. God only knows how long I've been saying that I'm going to overhaul it for. Someday it will actually happen, but between a growing (and not really sleeping) baby, and working full time (and filling in for the youth minister while we hired a new one), the book just got pushed to the back burner. In a way, I think it was and is a good thing. Now, not only do I want to add things about how Satan attacks wives (because the attacks don't stop just because you get married), I also want to add things about how he attacks mothers. I couldn't have written that without going through things with Monkey. August: -Transition Monkey into some sort of daycare/Mommy and Daddy are both working routine -Not lose my mind. -Set a bedtime routine for Monkey (and Mommy) and stick. to. it. -Go to a concert. I had a lot of goals for August! Monkey did really well with my parents and a family friend in terms of a daycare routine. Our daycare set up has changed (more on that in the coming weeks), but Monkey is still growing and learning and Mommy and Daddy are working and we are finding that sweet family-of-three groove. I haven't lost my mind any more than normal. Bedtime routines have changed, but in August we did start a routine and are tweaking it all the time to figure out what works best for Monkey and for us as parents. (Monkey is on more of a routine than Mommy. I usually just collapse at the end of the night, no routine necessary.) I went to a concert! I actually went to two over the summer. The first: Dustin Lynch, Thomas Rhett, Randy Houser, Florida Georgia Line, and Luke Bryan. It was, hands down, the best and most fun concert I've ever been to. Anthony watched Monkey and I went to the concert with my brother. Despite forgetting a critical part of my pump, leaving me in a certain amount of pain, it was a complete blast. The second concert: Old Dominion, Cole Swindell, Brantley Gilbert, Jason Aldean and Kenny Chesney. Fun, though when compared to the Luke Bryan concert, it wasn't as awesome. My brother and I actually skipped Kenny's set because we'd seen him before and it wasn't anything to write home about. So we got home earlier and beat the traffic! September: -Despite returning to long days at work, I want to read another novel. I have a tendency to read only spiritual books (which is great, donโ€™t get me wrong), but I want to read something just for fun, too. And not just baby books to my darling Monkey -Help plan a womenโ€™s retreat. Ha. No novel read. I'm still s.l.o.w.l.y. working through Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I did, however, plan a women's retreat and went on it this past weekend. More about that in the coming weeks as well! Preview of October's goals: -Go on said womenโ€™s retreat. -Work out for at least 30 minutes at least twice a week. Oof. The first one is already done and I completely forgot about the second one. Tune in next time to see how I'm doing with actually working out!
