Fall.

Some weeks it is better to let the lyrics speak for themselves and then comment after. Actually, that’s probably the best modus operandi for every week! Without further ado…

Rock or Knock: Rock.
Song: Fall
Artist: Clay Walker
Album: Fall
Lyrics:

Oh, look, there you go again
Puttin’ on that smile again
Even though I know you’ve had a bad day
Doin’ this and doin’ that
Always puttin’ yourself last
A whole lotta give and not enough take
But you can only be strong so long before you break

So fall
Go on and fall apart
Fall into these arms of mine
I’ll catch you
Everytime you fall
Go on and lose it all
Every doubt, every fear,
Every worry, every tear,
I’m right here
Baby, fall

Forget about the world tonight
All that’s wrong and all that’s right
Lay your head on my shoulder, and let it fade away
And if you wanna let go, baby, its okay

Fall
Go on and fall apart
Fall into these arms of mine
I’ll catch you
Everytime you fall
Go on and lose it all
Every doubt, every fear,
Every worry, every tear,
I’m right here
Baby fall

Hold on, hold on,
Hold on to me

Fall
Go on and fall apart
Fall into these arms of mine
I’ll catch you
Everytime you fall
Go on and lose it all
Every doubt, every fear,
Every worry, every tear,
I’m right here
Baby fall

I think it is my own favorite little hobby to find God in the midst of lyrics of songs that are seemingly only about sappy, overly romantic love. Scripture tells us that God is love so maybe that’s why I find it so easy to find Him in love songs; He is already there motivating and encouraging the love to grow. The love we sing about in the great love songs is the love we desire so deeply in our hearts and the love we desire so deeply is His, first and foremost. God knows I have done a fairly crappy job lately of loving Him first and foremost and not making anyone else my God, but more on that some other time. I love this song for a lot of reasons but I love listening to it and imagining God singing it to me because my mind is totally blown by His immense love for me.

I can just imagine God saying those first few lines to me, He knows I do that all the time, I put on a smile and fake like everything is alright even when I’ve had a horrible day. He knows that I can only be so strong before I break and He assures me that when I do, He’ll be there, no matter what.

Fall. He tells me to fall, fall apart into His arms, He will catch me every single time. I can’t get over the fact that He catches me every time. In life sometimes we fall for people who don’t catch us, we fall for things that disappoint us but no matter what He catches us every time we fall. As we fall He invites us to lose it all, lose ourselves, our doubts, our worries, our fears, and all our tears and be found in Him. He is right here. Just fall.

I love the invitation from God to forget about the world tonight, all that is wrong and all that is right. I feel like He is inviting me to just simply and peacefully bewith Him. To exist. To quiet my insane girl brain and rest in Him. I imagine myself laying my head on His shoulder and falling apart, falling into His arms, letting Him catch me. Sometimes when I imagine myself falling apart with God I’m weeping like a child in His arms, sometimes I’m just relaxing but no matter what emotion is overcoming me, I’m falling apart in His arms, and there is hardly anything more beautiful or peaceful than that.

So hold on to Him. Fall. Give yourself permission to fall into His arms and trust that He will catch you. Every. Single. Time.
