Quick Takes

{One}

Blogger confession: I usually write my Quick Takes by Tuesday night. I just like being ahead, and then if I want to go back and change things, I can. But here I am, Thursday afternoon, and I’m writing this week’s Quick Taken. Can I be honest? I feel like there is a chance coming to this good ole blog of mine. I’m not sure what, but something is changing. If anything, I think that my approach to blogging is changing. The busier work gets, the less time (and energy) I have to devote to writing. I’m not sure if I mentioned it before, but I’ve actually decided to step down from The Papist and Catholic Lane because I’m already spread too thin. That being said, when it comes to writing here I’d rather spend my time writing quality posts that are more thought-provoking and less, shall we say, fluffy? This may mean that Quick Takes will happen less consistently. I’m not sure yet and I’m praying about it all, but your prayers for guidance of blogging things would be much appreciated!

…and don’t worry, I have zero plans to stop writing anytime soon. If anything, the posts will get better! 🙂

{Two}

Speaking of stepping down from other writing gigs…my good friend Josh, one of the co-founder of The Papist wrote this piece when I told him I was stepping down. As I read it, my eyes started to leak. It was the strangest thing! Josh – if you are reading this, thank you so much! Your words touched me and inspired me to make sure that my writing is truly God’s will and His words. Thanks for all of your work at The Papist and for your inspiration over the years!

{Three}

Do you ever just feel behind? Is that just me? Is it just this time of year? Lately I feel like I’m so far behind on so many things – reading blogs, commenting on blogs (because they are SO good and I want to comment {when I read them} but darn the day flies by!), writing blogs, reading books – and I just can’t seem to get ahead! The type-A, to-do-list-making personality in me is a bit annoyed that I can’t just wave my magical time management wand and get everything done. God is really teaching me patience, y’all! And trust!

{Four}

I finished Marian Consecration on Thursday! All I can say is that it is mind-blowing and I highly recommend it. Also, be on the lookout for some upcoming posts about consecration, vows, and the awesomeness of Mary. She’s your Mother, your wonderful, glorious Mother. I can’t say enough about it!

{Five}

Book things…apparently Amazon has limited stock of the book/is out of stock. I’m working on getting this fixed so that y’all can keep ordering the book (and writing reviews for it *nudge nudge, wink wink*).

Song of the week…

Flaws by Bastille. Makes ya think, doesn’t it? Dig up the flaws. Be holy.

    I love it, there is such richness in it!

    My older children & I have all made our Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary. It is a very powerful, fruitful and lovely devotion.

    Totally understand about always wanting to improve on things. There is comfort in knowing that whatever truly *needs* to get done will get done. God is faithful like that 😉

    Totally agree. The linkups are good for traffic and new readers…but they aren’t necessarily where my heart is really at in terms of what I want to write.

    YES PLEASE. That’s pretty much the only way that I’d get ALL THE THINGS done!

    I also feel so behind right now. 🙁 Work is super busy, not to mention all of the other stuff going on. I’m very type A and have a hard time calling things “finished” because I think they can always be improved.

    I’ve been stressed nearly to tears a few times, but I take a lot of comfort in knowing there is no way I can do all these things. But if they are meant to be done, and done by me, God can give me the strength and endurance to do them!

    #1 I totally feel you. I feel like I see all these awesome link-ups and sometimes that is all I write about/for that none of the more thought provoking posts get written. Unfortunately right now most of my readers are via the click overs from link-ups. It’s a Catch 22. Haven’t decided how to fix these issues.

    #3: I’m thinking a Time-Turner a la Harry Potter would be awesome.
