not alone series: Introduction!

not alone series: Introduction!

not alone series

To say that I’m excited about this lovely and wonderful series started by some blogging friends of mine would be a colossal understatement. Each week we will be linking up to talk about the single life, dating, relationships, and so much more! This week we are starting out the series by introducing ourselves and a little bit about our lives and where we are at in our quest for our vocation (be that marriage, religious life, or consecrated life). For those of you just tuning into the blog, welcome! For those of you who have been around before, be sure to come back each week for new posts in this series {at times I may link up to posts I’ve written before about dating/single life/etc….why re-invent the wheel, right?}!

So, a little bit about me, eh? My name is Amanda and I’m a 20-something living in Colorado and working as a youth minister. I’m also an author (and still not used to saying that)! I recently published my own book called Worthy: See Yourself as God Does available through my site and Amazon (as well as Kindle!). Worthy is about the struggles that women face in their search to be found worthy, the lies that Satan tries to tell us, overcoming those lies through faith, and living as a woman of God in the world today.

I’ve been blogging for over two years now and I’ve written a lot about relationships of all kinds – friends, dating, courting, family, etc. Once upon a time (buried deep in the archives of the blog) I was pretty open about my relationship status and the gent I was seeing at the time. When the relationship ended, I felt like I had to address it on the blog (and I did) which was a pretty awkward place to be. Now, I recognize that this is my blog and I didn’t have to address the break up on the blog, but I made my peace with it. Ever since then I’ve never openly admitted in the blogosphere where exactly I’m at. My writing covers everything from the single life to my future marriage and everything in between. Suffice it to say that I’m somewhere between sisterhood (which I’ve actively discerned and feel a very strong call to marriage at this point in my life) and engagement. Some of my favorite posts that I’ve written about dating and relationships have been “raise your Standards.“, “just don’t say it: Singlehood.“, “dear Husband.“, “guard your Heart.” and “kissing kissing Goodbye.

While writing about my specific dating experiences had its time and place on the blog, I feel as though I can get the point across in a general way without going into the specifics. Besides, I really don’t want this to be a Taylor Swift type blog with gents coming in and out all the time 😉

I truly hope that this series is a place for support and growth, as well as fellowship and prayer as we all discern God’s will for our lives, and, for most of us, leads us to our future spouses!

You are not alone. You are not broken. You are not lost. You are not left behind.
