my attire on Sunday (vol. 5)
Hooray! Today is Gaudete Sunday, a.k.a the Third Sunday of Lent, a.k.a. Pink/Rose Sunday.
Perhaps you’ll recall that I said throughout Lent you would find me in liturgically matchy clothes. Three out of four Sundays this is ridiculously easy for me to do. There is a lot of purple in my wardrobe, so much so that narrowing it down to three outfits for the appropriate Sunday in Advent is hard to do! Gaudete Sunday, however, is an entirely different ball of wax.
I don’t like pink. I never have. It is far too girly of a color for me. I own two pink tops and two pink cardigans, a pink skirt and no pink dresses. I still think that it too much pink! So, this Sunday, I went with a magenta colored outfit and called it pink/rose. Close enough to count, I vote!
The deets:
Shirt dress: Kohl’s ($12, clearance + coupon, originally $44)
Leggings: Target ($8)
Boots: Payless
Shirt dress tie: black and white ribbons
So, there you have it. Gaudete Sunday is understood to be the rejoicing Sunday, the Sunday of hope and joy! It is a great liturgical Sunday in the year, but one of my least favorite to match for (along with the pink Sunday of Lent). So, go rejoice! Wear pink if you like! I’m rejoicing because next week I get to wear purple again!

So cute! I love that dress, and the ribbons look great!
That dress is soooo cute and I love it paired with black!! 🙂
I LOVE the dress and the fact you’re liturgically correct. You look great. Thanks for linking up with us as always!
Kinsi, exactly! Pink makes me feel like a little kid, and I look young enough on my own that I don’t want to wear a color that makes me feel even younger!
Hilary, it’s hard to find ones that are long enough for me and I’m not six feet tall! Good luck, I’ll let you know if I find some long ones =)
I only recently became comfortable wearing certain shades of pink. I don’t know about you, but frankly, I feel a little childish when I wear it. Learning to embrace it.
I’d say the dress is most definitely in the “rose” family, therefore a success 😉
Ditto on the not wearing pink. I could only force myself to wear a scarf. But the color looks fabulous on you.
That a great little dress and paired with black it looks fantastic!
I LOVE your shirt dress! I keep trying to find one that is long enough on me (cuz I’m six feet tall) and yours looks awesome!
You’ve got a great sense of style! I love your bracelet, too!
Jen,
It is snowing on my blog, just one of the fun little add-ons from WordPress!
The ribbons are just fun, I couldn’t decide between the black and the white one so I figured I could do both!
Cindy,
Thanks! That’s my Rosary bracelet and crucifix, made by the monks of my college, I wear it every day!
This is a great look! What an awesome and creative idea to tie ribbons as a belt. Brilliant! 🙂 Also, I love the hair accessory, as well!
Um, is it snowing on your page? I am a little tripped out. I am currently listening to Pandora, and thought it was from that site… but I don’t see it anywhere else! I hope I am not going crazy…
Great outfit! I like how your bracelet shows the little cross in the last photo. 🙂
Your sash is so cute! Magenta totally works for rose. I was so tempted to take a picture of Father today and post it somewhere with the caption “real men wear pink.”
Love the color of your dress and the ribbons are a great touch!
Cute! Your ribbon idea is a pretty good one!!
