my attire on Sunday (vol. 4)
Last week I wrote about how I pick my outfit for Sunday out a few days in advance and then put it in a special place as a way to prepare myself for Sunday Mass. This week, that was a little harder, for two reasons. First, this past Thursday I had an Advent Formal with my middle schoolers and we joined up with 4 other parishes for it! It was a blast, there were well over 70 teens there to celebrate the Advent season! That also means that my dress for said formal was hanging in front of my Sunday outfit for most of the week. (And no, I didn’t take any pictures of my dress at the formal…) Reason number two that my pre-picking my outfit didn’t work out was because it changed. A lot. I can be pretty stubborn as a Colorado girl and I don’t always want the weather to affect my Mass outfit. However, I had a dress picked out and planned to wear a shrug with it, but as I watched the forecasted high plummet from 40 to a whopping 19 degrees, I knew I had to forego the dress-with-short-sleeved-shrug idea.
So…here’s what you get:
Top: Kohl’s ($8, clearance rack + 20% off coupon)
Pants: Kohl’s (years ago…I don’t remember the price!)
Shoes: Payless Boots ($30)
The liturgically matchiness continues! This week I caved. I can remember only one other occasion in the last eight months or so when I have worn pants to a Sunday Mass. (Excluding retreats with my teens because that is an entirely different ballgame.) I am SO not condemning ladies who wear pants to Mass. I just love the feeling of wearing skirts and dresses and being girly for my dinner date with Jesus. But, with the lovely high of nineteen, I had to change the game plan (nor did that top look good with any skirt I own). However, the pants have this awesome shiny quality about them, and the top is flowy and feminine so I went with it. And I was warm. Mission accomplished!
Tune in for next week’s edition in which I will actually wear pink (*GASP*…I not-so-secretly don’t like wearing pink. I own exactly three pink shirts and only wear them on special [liturgically matchy] occasions)!
In other news…if you like shopping on Kohl’s lovely website, feel free to use the code “TENBLOG” when you check out and save 10% on your order! Thanks Kohl’s…because you don’t already have enough of my money 😉 (I get no profit for you using said code, I just like to pass along the savings!)

The top and pants combo looks so feminine and lovely!
Thanks Mike! My Miraculous Medal and crucifix almost never leave my neck! I love them!
Oh I love that shirt – you look fantastic!
Love how the belt ties the whole outfit together so nicely and gives it a bit of flair. Though I would be remiss if I didn’t state that my favorite piece of the ensemble is the Miraculous Medal around your neck. 🙂
Good sales at Kohl’s are the best – I can almost always find a great bargain there!
I have SO many purple options that it is hard to pick!! Purple is my fave 🙂
Mass is totally date night with Jesus, as is time in adoration 😉
Thomas – I’m glad! The more I post about what I wear, the easier it is to be goofy about it!
So cute! I love the detailing on your top. And I love finding good sales at Kohls!
I love your description of mass as a dinner date with Jesus! I also love the liturgical colors going on here and on other posts. I don’t have any purple clothes (other than tights) but I think I might wear pink next week. 🙂
great sweater and hilarious outtake!!
I love the out-take – it also makes it so much easier for me, as a man, to find something to comment on!
I assure you that there are things that I do not look good in! I’ve just learned what colors and such work well for me =) I hope my Date was pleased 😉
You look amazing!! I love Kohl’s!
Okay, I am convinced you can wear just about anything and look great! The shirt and belt are very pretty. I am sure your Date was pleased. 🙂
Kinsi! The wind here is crazy too! Fleece lined leggings sound fantastic!
Love it! So cute!
We had a high of 8 here today (and the wind is NUTS) so you know I wore me some pants! I would love to invest in some fleece-lined leggings, though. You look darling!
