Quick Takes

Well, y’all spoke, and I’m answering! I’ll be hosting a CONVERSION STORY LINK-UP starting on AUGUST 15th! So get to writing those fabulous, crazy, godly conversion stories and come back here to link up on the 15th! I can’t wait to read them! Also…if you are so inclined, feel free to use one of these images in your post (because I just couldn’t decide, so you get to!):

I started my new job this week! It is an adjustment to have been a youth minister for four years to being a director of faith formation, but I’m really excited about where God is leading me with this job! The demands are more than I’m used to (because I’ve been a part-time youth minister for so long), so don’t be surprised if things get a little quieter around here and the Facebook page. I’m still here and promise to keep posting!

Speaking of posting…if any of you are interested in writing a guest post for the “Just Don’t Say It” series feel free to let me know, I’d love to have them (worthyofAgape at gmail dot com).

Totally shameless self promotion: I wrote a new favorite blog post this week! Of the 300+ blog posts I’ve written, I think this one is my favorite so far! I plan on going through and listing my favorites at the end of the year that I’ve written for the year, but this one takes the cake. Be sure to check out “never Ready.” and let me know what you think! I love hearing your comments!

Random funny story for your Friday/weekend: The first parish I ever worked at had a marriage and family coordinator on staff. He was the one you’d call if you wanted to get married at the church (which, by the way, was only about 6 years old when I worked there). One day a bride called and the following conversation took place:
Bride: We want to get married outdoors.
Wedding Guy: Well, we don’t do that. Catholics get married in the church building, but you are free to have your reception outside.
Bride: Well, okay then. But can we ride in on horses?
Wedding Guy: Up to the doors of the church?
Bride: No, like, into the main part of the church.
Wedding Guy: ………….no.

This church was (and is) practically brand new. Can you imagine horses in the sanctuary, up at the altar? Naturally as a staff we started cracking jokes that the horses could count as the witnesses, but they’d need to be Catholic first. So, they would need to go through RCIH (Rite of Christian Initiation for Horses, as opposed to RCIA – for adults). They’d also need to go to confession…”Father, forgive me, I’ve been horsing around…”

Book. Thing. Of. The. Week. I don’t know why but I feel like that looks so much more dramatic. Alright…fun fact about the book this week? If you’ve read the intro you’ll know that I really struggled to write the intro and actually wanted to write it last. What I don’t tell you is that *technically* the end of the book had already been written. In fact, the last five chapters were written as blogs, long before I ever knew they’d turn into chapters. They (of course) we added to and spruced up from when they first appeared here as blogs, but technically I wrote the bulk of the end of the book before I wrote the beginning! Fun facts you never knew!

Would you be so wonderful and kind as to leave a review on Amazon when you finish reading the book? (p.s. It is still on sale over there if you haven’t ordered your copy yet! I’m always selling signed copies here!)

Song. Of. The. Week. Beautiful by Ben Rector. His sound is just so amazing and relaxing and I can hardly wait for his new album! AND he’s coming to Denver with one of my other all-time favorite artists, Tyrone Wells?! Somebody pinch me!

Year. Of. Faith. Tidbit. Of. The. Week.

“Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its own evil.” – Matthew 6:34

Quite fitting, right? God is definitely writing this verse on my heart – He takes care of everything and worrying only steals our peace and robs us of the joy He places in our hearts.

Until next time 😉
